Left to mature quietly over the decades, Old Pulteney 34 Years Old is robust, full-bodied and mellow.
Resting first in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then in Spanish oak butts seasoned with Oloroso, its inimitable character was nurtured by the Caithness coastal air. Initial bursts of deep, dark chocolate and caramelised dried fruit aromas lead to honey sweetness and creamy vanilla with a heavy satisfying finish.
MATURATION
Resting first in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then in Spanish oak butts seasoned with Oloroso.
APPEARANCE
Dark Copper.
AROMA
Initial bursts of deep, dark chocolate and caramelised dried fruit aromas are balanced by fresh vanilla and oily orange peel overtones in this classically rich dram. The first glimpse of its sweet weight is mouth-watering but with patience comes even more complexity, revealing spices, toffee and a bright coastal touch.
TASTE
Silky, full-bodied and truly developed. The palate is a balancing act of honey sweetness and creamy vanilla on one hand and darker, savoury notes of salted caramel and spice on the other. The finish is heavy and satisfying, delivered with a distinct Maritime charisma.
